For Rice's Honour Table Information (PDF file) Hurricane Ike could postpone, but not prevent a grand celebration of Rice's Honour. Bumped by Ike from its traditional date in September, the For Rice's Honour gala will now be held on Jan. 22, 2009, in the Grand Ballroom of the River Oaks Country Club. The event will feature the presentation of the 2008 Distinguished Owl Club Award to Billy Hale '64 and Bobby Tudor `82. The award is given in honor of outstanding leadership and meritorious service towards excellence in athletics at Rice University. . This year's event is once again co-chaired by Dr. Walter McReynolds and Bucky Allshouse. Longtime ESPN broadcaster Ron Franklin will again serve as the event's master of ceremonies. "For Rice's Honour" has been a featured event since the first gala was held in 1984. Over that time, more than $2 million has been raised for scholarships.
