Should build on a good freshman year... Led the California Collegiate League in hitting over the summer of 2008... Has the athleticism to develop into one of the top college outfielders in the country... Team's No. 3 returning hitter from a year ago. Wayne Graham said -- "Chad has evolved into one of the better outfielders in college baseball. Very good skills across the board." At Rice -- 2008: All-NCAA Houston Regional... All-Silver Glove Trophy Series... Houston College Classic All-Tournament... Rookie who worked his way into starting 58 of 62 games, including 54 in the outfield and four as the designated hitter... Fifteen starts were as the No. 2 man in the lineup... Batted .301 on the year and .291 in conference... Had a solid NCAA Tournament, going 10-for-24 (.417) with eight runs scored, three walks, three steals, two RBI, a double and sacrifice fly... Went 3-for-7 at the College World Series... Ended the year hitting safely in 10-of-11 games... Maintained a nine-game hitting streak midway through the year... Tallied 17 games with two or more hits, including a career-best four hits with two doubles in the team's home-opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi... Drove in two or more runs in a game six times, including a season-best four RBI on three hits against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns... Showed he can be a team catalyst, reaching base at a .511 clip (23-for-45) when leading off an inning... First career home run was hit against Texas in front of 13,979 fans at the Houston College Classic, and struck the facade in left-center field at Minute Maid Park... Scored 44 runs and was second on the team with three triples... Fourth on the team with 27 walks... Twice drew a career-high three walks in back-to-back games vs. Memphis and Lamar... Showed his arm strength by throwing out baserunners from his spot in the outfield six different times, including once in the College World Series against LSU... Batted a California Collegiate League-leading .470 (39-of-83) for the Santa Barbara Foresters over the summer... Scored 25 runs with 20 RBI in the team's 30 games. High School -- A 2007 graduate of Klein High School... Earned third team all-state after helping the Bearkats to a 21-7 record as a senior... All-District 16-5A as a junior... First team all-Greater Houston... Named the team's most valuable player after leading the squad in batting average, homeruns, and RBI... Error-free in center field...
