Rice -- Versitile performer who found extended playing time later in the 2008 season.
2008: Contributed in a variety of ways on offense for the Owls this season... Carried the ball 12 times for 69 yards, caught seven passes for 44 yards and completed two of three passing attempts for 39 yards and one touchdown... First career completion was a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jarett Dillard vs. North Texas... became only the third passer to throw a TD pass to Dillard... TD pass also broke a streak of 21 consecutive touchdown passes between Dillard and Chase Clement... Second career completion was a nine-yard pass to Clement, his first career reception... Twice rushed for 20 yards in a game (UTEP and Houston).... Caught three passes for 22 yards vs. Western Michigna in the Texas Bowl. 2007: Made his debut at Baylor and caught one pass for six yards... caught his second pass of the year against Memphis for a career-long eight yards... returned six kickoffs for 112 yards, including a long of 26, to finished the day with 120 all-purpose yards against the Green Wave... returned one kickoff for 19 yards against Tulsa. 2006: Entered fall camp in contention for playing time at receiver, but was hurt and unable to play all season. 2005: Redshirt. High School -- 2005 graduate of Lamar Consolidated High in Rosenberg... Two-year starter for coach Lydell Wilson... All-area as a quarterback/defensive back... Honorable mention all-state (Associated Press) and all-District 24-4A at quarterback... Second team all-greater Houston as selected by Texas PrepXtra.com... Mustangs' record-holder in season attempts (225), completions (113), passing yards for a season (1,796) and game (387), and touchdown passes in a season (13) and game (five)... Rushed for 644 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior... Also had a record 90-yard completion... Named the area player of the week by KNWS-TV's High School Extra and Texas PrepXtra.com early in the '04 season... Also competed in track for the Mustangs.
