Operation Sellout Kicks Off July 1
June 19, 2008
Single-game ticket sales for each of the 2008 Rice Owls home football games will get underway on July 1, including all available seats for the Owls' Operation Sellout home opener against SMU on August 29. Tickets for the SMU game start at just $10 and will be available on July 1 for purchase on line, in person at the Rice Stadium Ticket Office, or by calling (713) 522-OWLS. After opening the season against the Mustangs under the lights in front of a national television audience on ESPN, the Owls will move to afternoon starts for the remainder of the 2008 season. Rice will play three consecutive road games following Operation Sellout, before returning home to host North Texas at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 as part of the annual Families Weekend celebration. Rice's final four home games will all kick off at 2 p.m. Those afternoon starts include the first-ever appearances by Southern Miss (October 18) and Marshall (November 22) at Rice Stadium. The Black Knights of Army will be the opponent when Rice celebrates Homecoming on November 8. The regular season will conclude on November 29 when the Houston Cougars come to Rice Stadium in the annual battle for the Bayou Bucket. For the second consecutive year, home games at Rice Stadium will feature expanded fan activities that will be centered around Tailgate Owley, located just north of the stadium. The area will feature a fun zone for children as well as tailgating opportunities for groups. For more information on Tailgate Owley, fans can contact Linda Pinsent at 713.348.3094 or linda.r.pinsent@rice.edu
