Rice and Tulsa Set for West Division Showdown

The Rice Owls (3-2/2-0) will put their unbeaten Conference USA record on the line tonight when they meet the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (4-0/1-0) in a nationally-televised showdown at Tulsa's H. A. Chapman Stadium. The game will be carried by CBS College Sports, with Carter Blackburn and Aaron Taylor calling the action as two of the top offenses in the country go head-to-head. The game will also be carried on ESPN's 97.5 "The Ticket" with David Saltzman, Nate Griffin and Matt McCabe describing the action.
In addition to the television broadcast, the game will be available live and on-demand around the world via Internet video streaming as part of a special online event. Current annual subscribers to OwlVision All-Access will receive the Rice-Tulsa broadcast for FREE as part of their annual package. Those subscribers can just log in with their OwlVision All-Access account and begin watching the game. All others can access the live video stream for a one-time payment of $14.95. Please note that monthly subscribers will have to purchase the pay-per-view. The game also will be broadcast nationally on CBS College Sports Network, which is channel 106 on Comcast cable in the Houston area, as well as channel 613 on DirecTV and channel 152 on Dish Network/Echostar. Rice comes into the game on the strength of a record-setting, 77-20 victory over North Texas last Saturday, while Tulsa blasted Central Arkansas 62-34. Tulsa leads the nation in both total offense and scoring offense and is ranked fourth in passing offense. The Owls are ranked 14th in scoring and 11th in passing. Individually, Rice has several individuals ranked among the nation's best. James Casey is second in the NCAA 9.00 receptions per game, third with 519 receiving yards and is 10th in receiving yards per game (103.9). Jarett Dillard is second in the nation with 532 receiving yards, tied for third in the nation with 7.80 receptions per game, tied for fourth with and average of 12 points per game, ninth with 418 receiving yards and eighth in receiving yards per game (106.50). Chase Clement is fourth in passing yards (1,427) sixth in total offense (342.0 per game), eighth in passing (24.4completions per game), 10th in passing yards per game (285.4) tied for sixth in points responsible for (23.6). Andrew Sendejo is 20th with 10 tackles per game and 13th with 6.2 solo tackles per game. When the two teams last met, on the final weekend of the 2007 season at Rice Stadium, they combined for nearly 1,300 yards and 91 points, with Tulsa escaping with a 48-43 victory. Rice's Chase Clement smashed the conference record for total offense (601), while completing 40 of 66 passes for 541 yards. Rice finished the day with an even 700 yards of total offense. Rice's last trip to Tulsa was equally memorable, as the Owls defeated the Hurricane in double-overtime (41-38). The Owls will be off next week, and then return to Conference USA action on October 18 when they host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. at Rice Stadium.
