Indoor: Achieved a pair of firsts for Conference USA on his way to being named the C-USA Indoor Male Field Athlete of the Year... First C-USA Indoor NCAA Champion, capturing the title with a vault of 5/60m/18-4.50... Fourth Owl to win an NCAA Indoor individual title (Gawain Guy, Gabriel Luke and Kareem Streete-Thompson)... First vaulter in C-USA history to clear 18 feet indoors... Broke his own school record for the third consecutive meet with a vault of 5.61m/18-4.75 at the Texas A&M Invitational... Broke the school indoor record while winning "Most Valuable Performer of the Meet" honors at the Frank Sevigne Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska on 2/7. Cleared 5.60m/18-4.5 to better the record he had set one week earlier at the Houston Invitational (5.40m/17-8.5)... Earned three consecutive C-USA Male Athlete of the Week honors for his each of his record-breaking vaults.
2007-08
Outdoor: Broke the oldest school record on the books by vaulting 5.55m/18-2 ½ to win the Texas Relays vaulting title... Previous record was set by Olympic Bronze Medalist Dave Roberts in 1972... C-USA Outdoor champion with a vault of 5.31m/17-5.00, clearing the height in his second attempt of the meet... Won every regular season meet... Finished second at the NCAA Regional 5.41m/17-9 to qualify for the NCAA Championships... Missed on his three attempts at 5.25m/17-2.75 after passing on the first two heights and did not advance to the finals of the NCAA meet... Qualified for the Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR.... Cleared 5.40m/17-8.50 but did not advance to the finals and finished in a tie for 14th.
Indoor: Joined teammate Shea Kearney in tying the school indoor vaulting record with a leap of 5.26 m/17- 3 at the Last Chance Invite in Fayetteville, AR to tie the mark set by Paul Bratloff in 1983.
2006-07
Outdoor: Took first place in pole vault at the Texas Twilight meet with a C-USA season best and NCAA regional qualifying score of 5.20m/17-0.75. Posted two additional NCAA qualifying vaults of 5.05m/16-6.75, one at the Texas Relays and the other a first place finish at the Rice Twilight. Also took first at the TSU Relays.
Indoor: Had his best indoor pole vault of the year at the New Mexico classic with a 4.77m/15-7.75 mark.
PREP/PERSONAL
2006 graduate of San Marcos High School. Under coach Jason Pape, earned the district, regional, and state title in pole vault during his senior year. He was also third in the state meet as a junior, and has an extensive background in gymnastics.
