Sophomore Brad Morris was the first Owl across the line, finishing the 10K course in 31:03.1 to finish 24th overall. Junior Brett Olson was next for Rice with a 38th-place finish in 31:33.8.]]></description>

The women are on the hunt for their second C-USA cross country title in three years. After taking second in 2005 and third in 2006, the men will vie for their first C-USA title and first league crown since taking their final Western Athletic Conference in 2004. The men race first on Saturday, starting at 11:30 am (CDT), followed by the women at 12:30 pm.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Fourth Annual Rice University 5K Fun Run/Walk benefiting the men's track & field and cross country programs is set for Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6 pm. The course will guide participants through the scenic 285-acre campus of Rice University, starting and finishing at Rice Stadium. All participants will receive a timing chip the day of the race and official results will be available for competitors following the race. Awards will also be available for five-year age groups, beginning with 14 and under and ranging to 70 and over.]]></description>

The Owls scored 44 points, 20 behind the host Islanders who had their top five finishers place in the top 10. Rice out-distanced third-place Stephen F. Austin State which tallied 103 points. Also in the top five were Texas-Pan American (130) and Prairie View A&M (173). A total of 12 teams and 94 competitors raced on Friday.]]></description>
