HOUSTON - Head coach Genny Volpe and the Rice volleyball program announced its spring schedule Monday.

The Owls open the spring slate playing host to a tournament at Fox Gym on March 20. Rice faces off with Houston Baptist at 4:30pm followed by a 5:30pm tilt with Sam Houston State. The Owls conclude the tournament by taking on former Southwest Conference rival Texas A&M at 6:30pm

"We're excited about the prospect of our team using the spring season to gel," Volpe said. "We were a young team last season and we'll have a chance to benefit the more time we spend on the floor as a unit."

Rice heads to College Station on April 5 before returning to Houston for a tournament at the Texas Tornados facility on April 12. Rice finishes the spring season at UH's Athletics/Alumni Center on April 19.

The Owls coming off a 13-17 season and an appearance in the C-USA Quarterfinals. Six starters return for Rice in 2008, including AVCA All-Midwest Region pick and All-America Honorable Mention honoree Natalie Bogan. The Owls also return C-USA All-Freshman performers Caroline Gill and Tracey Lam along with Jessica Holderness, All-Conference USA Second Team selection.
