         <description><![CDATA[The Rice women's cross country team concluded it's most successful season in history by finishing 16th out of 31 teams at the 2007 NCAA Championships on Monday in Terre Haute, Ind. In addition to the best national team finish in program history (the Owls were 15th of 16 in 1987, 19th of 22 in 1993 and 25th of 31 in 2005), Rice's remarkable season was highlighted by winning both the NCAA South Central Regional and the Conference USA championships. The Owls also won the Notre Dame Invitational in late September to launch themselves to 7th in the national poll.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Rice head coach Jim Bevan was honored once again by his peers this year, earning NCAA South Central Regional Coach of the Year honors, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Friday. Under Bevan's guidance, Rice upset Arkansas at the South Central Regional, 54-70, and is ranked 11th nationally heading into the NCAA Championships. The regional title was Rice's first. The Owls also won the Conference USA title with a record score of 26 points.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The No. 16 Rice women made school history on Saturday, winning the program's first NCAA South Central Regional Championship and claiming an automatic bid to the national meet as the Owls scored 54 points at Fayetteville, Ark. Heading into the meet, the Owls ranked second in the region behind host and 10th-ranked Arkansas, but upset the Southeastern Conference champion Razorbacks on their home course.
